"Swimming against the tides"- A tribute to the true champion -Our Kunhaapa

In love and admiration for the leader who has taken the cause against all odds, swimming against the vehement tides, to usher in the socio political changes for the upliftment of the down trodden, always smiling and ever inspiring....leading from the front....The media can come with breaking news to conspire against him....they will eat dust...but there will be no breaking of the people's trust....they may have venomous  and criminal minded wolves and all the likes to bark along.....but all their sooth sayers will search in the dark alone...
Insha Allah...

Excerpts from an interview between Janab.P.K.Kunhalikutty and Shri.C.P.Saidalavi, Associate Editor, Chandrika

League stand is crystal clear ; History is the proof

Q. Muslim league is ever-conspicuous in state and national politics for the clear and
straight forward stand it often takes. At this point in time when the innocents from the
minority are discussed about being tortured in the name of terrorism, why did not Muslim
League take part in the united platform to help Madani?

A. Muslim League had always given support to Madani purely on humanitarian
grounds, especially when he was in jail.
We had wholeheartedly taken part in all the causes that were to bring justice for
him. But we never got a single word of thanks from him after his release. Instead,
later on we saw him rubbing shoulders with CPI(M) in Ponnani , in all efforts to
nail down Muslim League.
Well, what kind of politics is being played is presently not known; let everything
become clear.
Muslim League has and will always voice for anyone who is tortured or framed for
no reason. Panakkad Syed Hyderali Thangal has clearly said, “Let law take its own
course and no innocent should be punished”. This is exactly the point that I want to
make as well. As far as Madani is concerned it is more of politics. We are unaware
of what all wrong he did and what he did not. That is why we wanted law to take a
course of its own.
If a common citizen is tortured or haunted by false allegations of terrorism on him,
whether by the centre, Kerala….Karnataka, Muslim League will fight for justice
and truth, no matter what.

Q .An organization has criticized that Muslim League is simply clearing its hand of the
issue when it says let the law take its own course.

A. Can anyone predict which route Madani will take? Let law take its own course
means let the truth prevail. How can that be a wrong stand?

Q. The Chief Minister has made a jibe at the talks between Jama’at and Muslim League.
He called the meeting mysterious. Was it a secretly planned discussion? Why would
a party like CPI (M) which has the closest ties with Jama’at making a big fuss
when
League had just a round of talk with them?

A. CPIM(M) thinks that it is a specialist in making its own Gibbelsian tricks win all
the time; that the people of Kerala are always willing to believe its highly polished
lies.
Muslim League had cooperation with Jama’at that was bases on issues only
But CPI (M) has strong political alliance with them that has no boundaries…. .
Standing alongside Yechury in protests, sitting besides Pinarayi on stage, framing
textbooks with the Education Minister, Hajj, Waqf Committees….read the Jama’at
publications post LDF government’s arrival, one will clearly comprehend that they
are true left fellow travelers.
We may have covered our head, but CPI (M) has covered its face. Let them take
that cover off their face and then the world will see their real, mysterious face.

Q. The CM, Home Minister and the Polit Bureau alleges that Kerala is in the grip of
minority (Muslim-Christian) communalism. Till day efforts were mad to bring the
minorities under their control. What could have prompted CPI (M) for this sudden change
in stance?

A. Take the last 30 years and you will see that CPI (M) has historically and
conveniently played the majority card at one tome and the minority card at the
other. During the times of Sharia’t they played the majority card and when it came
to Saddam Hussein, a minority card. When they imprisoned Madani a majority
card and when Madani got released they came with their minority card. They
change it from one to the other from tome to time. Now since they are talking about
handing over Madani, its their time to take their majority card. Their minority card
is shortly coming up next. Their talk depends upon the card they take.

Q.Can LDF make a come back in 2011 similar to the fashion of 1987 when they played
the communal card?

A. To garner votes in the name of caste and by playing the communal card has
become a thing of past in Kerala. With changing time, Kerala has much evolved
in terms of education and awareness. That power can be attained with the help of
religious
splits and communal differenced is no longer even a distant dream.
What the BJP couldn’t do in the country, can the CPI (M) do it in the state? The
sooner they realize that their p[arty is undergoing a massive collapse in Kerala just
like in Bengal, the better it is for them. If they continue to exhibit a communal card,
the result will be that the last few people standing with them will too leave them for
ever.

Q. If the talk with Jama’at revolved around the common interests and issues of the
community, was there no need for a talk with the other groups in the community?

A. It was one among the many discussions we were having with all the religious
groups which was very much issue-based. We have already had discussions with the
other groups.

Q. Muslim League serves the interests of the rich and CPI (M) thinks about the common
man- is an ever repeated criticism by Pinarayi and others.

A. CPI (M) principle and agenda is to amass wealth for the party and for themselves
by using and exploiting the poor common man. Poverty is only their slogan. The
rich are their soul- mates. Muslim League tries to educate, empower, modernize,
revive and resurrect the downtrodden and the common man. One can see this
difference in Kerala with naked eyes.

Q. How can you justify your claim that it is only Muslim League which has always taken
sincere steps to tackle politically, the problems of the Muslim minority?

A. Take the history of Kerala politics. We have not changed a single word of ours.
Be it issues related to the Muslim minority or any other political issue; Muslim
League always has a firm, solid stand while the others have retracted from their
words numerous times.

Q. CPI (M) criticizes that Muslim League is insincere in opposing extremist groups and
that it is to hide the relations with SDPI, PDP is connected with CPI (M). What is your
take on this?

A. Definitely not! It is their Ali Baba trick from the Arabian tales to mark the
others.
Not only SDPI, we have the farthest relation with any extremist groups neither
openly nor in secret.
The people of Kerala knows this well. The last election in Kannur was a very
prestigious one. It was for CPI (M) that SDPI contested there so that they could
defeat us.
I think its time CPI (M) stop this absolutely baseless talk.

Q. Muslim League as a party and you as its leader was always taunted and targeted by
Jama’at Islami and its mouthpiece. But still steps where taken to have talks with them.
Is it not ironical?

A. Public life and public issues need not be taken personally or as a personal issue.
I have already mentioned that the discussions and oppositions where only based on
issues.

Q. Jama’at leaders still write in their articles that Islamists and Communists should go
hand in hand. In spite of getting many setbacks what politically factor motivates them to
say so?

A. Communists and Islamists should relate to each other means atheists and the
God-fearing should relate to each other. How on Earth is that possible?

Q. Muslim League has shown its strength by making a major come back in the last
Lok Saba elections. Is the Party’s Kerala machinery and organizational set up working
satisfactorily?

A. Its perfect, Masha Allah. Its dynamic everywhere, just like a well-oiled, smoothly
and efficiently working machine. Is there any other party in the state that organizes
so many programmes day after day, in every stretch of Kerala?

Q. You have once said that if the issue becomes communal. It is Muslim League that
stands to lose. Why so?

A. We have never and will never take a communal stand. Those with such
communal interests will only harvest benefits from an issue that gets communal.
Marad is an instance. It is Muslim League which ultimately had to suffer the pain,
the trauma and the hurdle of Marad (issue). The responsibility to handle the
situation after the most unfortunate incident on one hand, the re-settlement of the
refugees on the other. It was also important to monitor that problem never sparks
again and to keep it. under check. Muslim League with all its maturity and sense
of responsibility created an atmosphere to tackle the situation and overcome it
peacefully.
The communal forces as always wanted to exploit the situation.

Q. Many educated and enlighted think-tank has come praising Muslim League and its
stand. It’s an encouraging factor .But is the presence of Muslim League on its cultural
scenario satisfactory?

A. I think no is the answer. Muslim League needs to focus more on this field.
Muslim League showing significant and good presence in the socio cultural field will
strengthen the socio cultural setup of the state at large.

Q. Don’t you think it’s necessary to build a good friendship with the literary eminence
and the think tank?

A. Definitely! Kerala’s public knows Muslim League close to the heart. That
is why Kerala’s socio-cultural field is keeping an eye and acknowledging the
contributions of Muslim League in maintaining communal harmony and upholding
secularism. Numerous eminent writers, educated think-tank take part in the various
pragrammes of Muslim League and its associated organizations. They are always
willing to endorse their frank opinions about Muslim League in the media. Party is
grateful for this.
In fact, party looks forward to stage a vast, friendly platform on the cultural front.

Q .One more question. There is a wide criticism that many organizations that take
financial benefits from the NRI’s are not sincerely willing to solve the problems faced by
the pravasi. They constitute more of the lower and the middle class. Is Muslim League
thinking of any scheme for the future of the pravasi?

A. Muslim League reaches out to the Pravasi for their contributions in charity. To
collect party fund from Pravasi is not a Muslim League approach.
At the same time, they are the people who really maintain and support the
economic balance of our state. The government and organizations should devise and
implement every possible scheme for their better future.
Employment schemes have to be implemented for the economic upliftment of the
returning Pravasi.

Muslim League has always been doing whatever is practically possible to look into
their needs and their future.
Their right to vote, their need to be included in the census, problems relating to
their travel, emigration, other laws and all the other current issues are voiced
strongly and sincerely by Muslim League, leading from the front.
